NBC/Universal shows their spiteful side

According to PC World this morning, NBC/Universal has moved to the Zune platform after abandoning Apple’s iTunes Store, the most successful online digital retailer in the world. I generally don’t post profanity on here, but WTF? I just don’t get it. Not only is the Zune a complete joke (it doesn’t even have a clock), [...]

My Tweetcloud

Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of Tweetclouds. It’s a web site that takes all your tweets from Twitter and shows you which words you used the most. You can find it at tweetclouds.com

Has Twitter changed how we blog?

In the last few months since I started using Twitter, I found that if I wanted to throw an idea out to the ‘net, I could do so in 140 characters or less and get feedback from other people directly. This was a satisfying way of having a small, isolated conversation about a particular topic [...]

Could technology kill Santa and the Easter Bunny?

Sitting here on Easter eve, I had a thought: what if some tech-savvy kid decided to set up a webcam to catch Santa or the Easter Bunny pop in, and instead saw their parents putting out the presents? Sure, the parents could lie and say “Santa was in a hurry and told us to do [...]

Am iWasting my time writing iPhone apps?

A week ago, Apple introduced the iPhone SDK to us mere mortals. It was a wonderful gesture by Apple to allow us to write apps for one of the best phones ever made. However, the SDK’s limitations and other issues are killing my enthusiasm for developing for it. The $99 entry fee doesn’t bother me. [...]

Forget the paperless office!

I finally figured out why I hate reading documents on a screen. I knew I hated it before but couldn’t quite put my finger on the reason. It’s the quality of the text. When you read a document on screen, the text quality is compromised. On paper, the text is much easier to read. I [...]

Who do we belong to?

A few months ago I was working on a blog post about data security which I never got around to finishing. This issue with Robert Scoble rekindled that. I’ll sum it up for those of you that don’t know: Robert was using a Facebook app to scrape data from Facebook so that he can use [...]

What I learned in 2007

I have to say, 2007 was a crappy year for me. Here’s a list of things I learned. 1) Family > everything. 2) Never go into business with someone you’ve known for less than three months. That’ll give you enough time to see the happy/sad/sober/drunk/depressed side of them, and see how they treat you. Usually, [...]

Is email impersonal?

Some people think that email is impersonal and that sending an email is probably the lowest form of communication. They apparently don’t know about text messaging. One thing I got from my mom is that communication in a relationship is very important, and she’s right. Back in the day, you had two options: phone or [...]

Encom T-65 X-Wing launches in California

A group of avid model rocket enthusiasts launched a life-sided X-Wing fighter this weekend in California. The ship was made from balsa wood and I had a feeling it wouldn’t last too long, based on my own model rocket experiences. Anyway, here’s the video of the launch. Video courtesy of eyespot.
