Two months later – PSP vs. DS

Now that we’re on the eve of E3, I figured I’d plunk down my own 2 cents and reflect on my views on the DS vs. the PSP.

Put simply – I haven’t used my DS since the PSP was release. There isn’t enough Nintendogs or interations of Final Fantasy that could make me pick it up again. The dual screens are a neat idea, but hardly revolutionary. I’ll take an analog stick over playing Metroid with a stylus any day. My kids have already lost one stylus, and I won’t give them the extra one or I’ll never see it again. $2.50 for a stick of plastic seems rather hideous – it’s the same price as a gallon of gas. No, thanks.

The bottom line is this: you can do so much more with a PSP. Movies, music, pictures, oh, and games. The screen is large and readable, and the analog stick makes a serious difference in controlling the game.

So for now, my kids play with their DS and I play with the PSP. Who said Nintendo didn’t cater to kids?
